Jan. 16, 2025: Exploring What France has to offer
Hello everyone! My name is Remy Mabboux, and I am studying abroad in France this semester! The university which I am studying at is Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye, located in a suburb close to Paris. I arrived just a few days ago, and have been trying to adjust to living alone, the different societal norms, and a new and unknown environment. Despite the nervousness of being an entire ocean away from my family and friends, I am excited to explore what France has to offer and challenge myself through meeting new people from many different corners of the world.
You may be wondering what possessed me to study abroad in France in the first place. Well, first off, it was due to convenience. I already fluently read, speak, and write French, and as a Political Science major, Sciences Po (who specializes in Political Science, as you may have guessed based off the name) was a perfect fit for me. However, I also decided to go here due to our university’s partnership with them. Unlike other study abroad options that go through a third party program (and thus cost more), Worcester State has a direct partnership with Sciences Po, allowing you to study abroad for Worcester State tuition! I also decided to study abroad due to my position as a Presidential Student Ambassador (PSA). As a PSA, I am employed by the school to formally represent it in certain situations. At first, I was anxious that my study abroad plans would interfere with my duties as a PSA, but to my relief, the PSA program encourages PSAs to study abroad and works with them to accommodate their trip.
As I get set into my schedule and buy all the necessary things I need to survive, I will begin to post about more interesting things (I promise!). I hope you stay tuned to see what kinds of things I get up to in France!
