Bio

Samantha Scripture earned her doctorate in communication sciences and disorders at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her dissertation research examined how word learners, both children and adults, used multiple cues to learn action words in typical development. Now, she pursues research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), specifically, alternative grading methods to promote grading for growth and deeper learning. Dr. Sam is a licensed pediatric speech and language pathologist with over a decade of experience working in early intervention (birth to three). She enjoys bringing the clinical experience into the classroom with hands-on activities to prepare students with skills sets for their future clinical careers. When not teaching or researching, she mentors in the Big Brother/Big Sister program, attends book club, takes ballroom dancing lessons, and spends quality time with her nieces and nephew.
