About

Ed. D. University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Language, Literacy and Culture. Dr. Hollander is Chair of the Education Department and teaches Introduction to the Teaching Professor, Literacy Education courses, The Educational Experience Through Memoir, Introduction to Liberal Studies, and First-Year Seminar.

Dr. Hollander’s research and creative projects focus on the transition to college and the arts in education. Her book Readiness Realities: Struggles and Successes During the Transition to College conceptualizes the college experience as a two-way relationship, and concludes that when students drop out it is a constellation of factors (financial, family, social, academic, cultural) that make it difficult to continue. She also edited the book Generation X at Middle Age in Pop Culture.Dr. Hollander is very interested in how the arts can be infused into all curricula.

She is a crafter, and makes her own clothing and accessories.
