Communication Creativity Opportunities at Worcester State
Within the Communication Department at Worcester State University, you’ll have many opportunities to apply your media literacy, intercultural communication skills, and multimedia production knowledge in greater Worcester. We promote hands-on learning with a number of highly interactive departmental activities, including:
- Center for Community Media
- National Communication Association Honor Society (Lambda Pi Eta)
- Worcester State University radio station (WSUR)
- Worcester State University television studio with high-definition video cameras, black-and-white darkroom, digital photography lab, and video-editing suites
You also may complete independent study on a topic of special interest or collaborate with your professors on important research projects. We recognize these remarkable student-faculty collaborations at our annual Celebration of Scholarship and Creativity. Recent projects include:

Agreement Smooths Way for Communications, Business Majors to Earn Master’s Degree at Clark
Worcester State students now have a local pathway to a graduate degree in communications thanks to an agreement signed with Clark University. The articulation agreement provides guaranteed admission and reduced tuition to students that meet program criteria.
Communication Major Part of Special Olympics USA
Senior Samantha “Sami” Vayo, who is deaf and has cerebral palsy, will celebrate two major accomplishments in the next three months. She will participate in commencement this month and compete in the Special Olympics USA Games in July.
Communication Major Makes Hiking Documentary for Senior Project
Senior Mandi Strzelewicz (Communication) recently produced “Life Above Clouds,” a short documentary on hiking.
‘Babel’ Depicts Over-Consumption and Chaotic Communication
Amodern sculpture exhibit using recycled materials and other items usually considered “junk” is taking shape in the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery at Worcester State University. It is the culminating project of 11 students in Professor of Visual and Performing Arts Catherine Wilcox-Titus’ Undisciplined Art class.
