Participate in innovative research with CityLab!
CityLab projects focus on urban exclusion issues that often involve the impact of race/ethnicity, class, gender, and location on municipal and regional systems. In terms of topics, the projects look at problems in urban education, health, sustainability, identity, crime, aging, and civics issues specifically to offer objective findings and multiple solutions to clients.
Projects typically are accomplished by custom-designed research teams that draw on the expertise of Worcester State faculty members working with community partners and selected students. Often grant-funded, the projects can be local, regional, or state-wide in scope and are normally more affordable than reports in private industry. The research teams allow faculty members from different disciplines to team up, adding a unique and necessary transdisciplinary approach. Coming from multiple departments also increases the breadth of studies by making it possible for other campus centers to bring a variety of university-level resources including a GIS Lab, statistical software, survey software, and qualitative data-gathering approaches.
For more information or to discuss a possible project, please contact the CityLab Director, Dr. Thomas E. Conroy at tconroy@worcester.edu or 508-929-8760.
