If you’re looking to hire a Worcester State student, we use Handshake as our career and internship management system for all students (undergraduate, graduate, and recent alumni). This is one-stop shopping for recruiting; post jobs and internships, register for recruitment events, schedule on-campus and virtual interviews, and more. The Career Development Center sends out a weekly email and a monthly newsletter; we also maintain an active social media presence. Reach out to our office at cdc@worcester.edu to request that your event or position be highlighted in our digital marketing.

Our information/recruiting tables can be set up in high-traffic locations around our campus during the fall and spring semesters. (Check Worcester State’s Academic Calendar for dates.) Employers interested in on-campus recruiting should be hiring for internship and/or professional or pre-professional roles. There is no fee to reserve a table. However, this service is offered exclusively to employers with Handshake accounts.

Note: Upon our authorization, you will be responsible for managing this event in Handshake.

We offer 4 locations:

• Sullivan “T” Corridor: the intersection of 2 main corridors of classrooms in our largest academic building, first floor Sullivan Academic Center; recommended best time is morning
• Ghosh Center Lobby: the entrance area of our Ghosh Science and Technology Center; ideal location for employers in the health-care, sciences, environmental, and technology sectors;  recommended best time is morning
• Sheehan Hall Lobby: the lobby entrance to our dining hall, first floor Sheehan Hall; recommended best time is lunch (11:30am start)
• Student Center Ramp: the entrance of the Food Court, first floor Student Center; recommended best time is lunch (11am start)

During your initial consultation session, we will help you identify the best location for your needs.

Successful on-campus recruitment requires planning. Please note that the scheduling of all tables is dependent on date and space availability.

As Worcester State’s main resource for employer-student relations, let us help you to create a streamlined plan for an on-campus presence at our information/recruiting tables, fairs, and other events. Our discussion will focus on developing your existing efforts with regards to interviewing and recruiting our students for internship, part-time, and full-time employment opportunities.

We also invite your representatives to contact us to express interest in collaborating with Worcester State faculty to host our students in practicums and clinicals. We welcome proposals for original programming as well.

Schedule a Consultation Session

If you are interested in recruiting students in a specific academic department, speaking in front of a class, or connecting with a student affinity group on campus, please contact the Career Development Center. We will act as a liaison if the connection is welcomed by the group and is an appropriate match.

Volunteer to serve as a resource for students interested in learning more about your career field through informational interviews or as a practice interviewer for mock interviews.

The Career Development Center hosts in-person fairs each semester. Registration for all fairs takes place in Handshake.

For safety and liability concerns, the Worcester State University Career Development Center will not post house or family job listings where an employee will work out of someone else’s dwelling (house, apartment, condo, etc.) or door-to-door. This includes childcare, tutoring, domestic care, pet care, skilled labor, in-home sales, home-based organizations, etc. Students and community members interested in engaging in these employment categories may consider Care.com, Sittercity.com, Taskrabbit.com and Rover.com.

Without written permission from the Associate Director of Employer Relations, third-party recruiters are not permitted to participate in any on-campus or virtual recruiting events unless they are recruiting for their organization and not for other clients. Third-party recruiters seeking to post jobs in Handshake may email the Associate Director of Employer Relations to inquire.
