Meet Our Staff
Melanie (she/her/hers) is a Worcester State alumna with a degree in Urban Studies and Psychology. Melanie has prior experience as both a direct care worker and administrative assistant for an outpatient mental health agency. She loves animals, art, gardening, and candy. You can always find a bowl of sweet treats at the front desk.
Kevin (he/him/his) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor having earned a Master’s degree from Assumption College with a focus on Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions. His work with students focuses on creating meaning and purpose in their pursuit of academic success and general well-being. Kevin is certified through Assistance Dogs International and you may see him around campus with his Therapeutic Assistance Dog – MK. A diehard Celtics fan, Kevin enjoys a good laugh, good music and being a father.
MK graduated from NEADS as a Therapeutic Assistance Dog. He knows roughly 60 commands. He is a bias-free lover of people. In his free time, MK enjoys food, playtime and rolling in cold, wet grass.
Sarah (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who achieved her BA from Clark University and MSW from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. Sarah completed her Diversity Equity Inclusion Certificate from Clark University and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II). Sarah coordinates sexual violence response and prevention, chairs the SAVE (Sexual Assault and Violence Education) Task force on campus, is a member of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board and is the WSU Cheer Team advisor. Sarah values supporting students through their identity development and personal growth. She enjoys reading, knitting, being at the lake or mountains, camp fires and spending time with her dog and family.
Julie (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who received her MSW from Boston University. Julie completed her Diversity Equity Inclusion certificate from Clark University. She loves working with college students and helping them navigate the challenges they may face during these years. In addition to being an Assistant Director, Julie is also the Outreach Manager. She coordinates the Student Support Network (SSN) and WSU’s annual Fresh Check Day. She is also the Active Minds student group advisor. Julie loves spending time with her family (including her dog) and friends as well as running, reading, traveling, and playing chess.
Drew (he/him/his) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ Mental Health. Drew obtained his Bachelors in Psychology, with a Minor in Criminal Justice, from Montclair State University in New Jersey and his Masters in Forensic Psychology from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Drew is a die hard Disney fan, favorite movie being The Little Mermaid; he also enjoys video games, Magic: The Gathering (although he isn’t great at it), and Real Housewives. Drew is the co-chair of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board and a staff advisor for the LGBTQ+ Alliance.
Rochelle (she/her/hers) is a Worcester State University alumna with a major in sociology. She is also an alumna of Worcester State University’s Upward Bound and AID program. Rochelle is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received her Masters of Social Work from Springfield College. She has been working in the mental health field for 7 years in various roles. Rochelle’s clinical goals for students include providing a safe space on campus and learning to be compassionate with ourselves to then in turn, hold more compassion for others.
Tiana (she/her/hers) is the newest member of Counseling Services as the Multicultural Specialist. Tiana obtained her Bachelors in Psychology, with a minor in Criminology from Stonehill College in Easton, MA and her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Assumption University in Worcester, MA. Tiana enjoys working to create a space for students to feel supported, to grow, and to learn ways to advocate for themselves and others. Tiana is also knowledgeable in all things pertaining to physical health and wellness. She enjoys exercise, sports, playing rugby, music, and spending time with friends and family.
