The Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Breakfast
Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Breakfast
In 1994, Dr. George Storms, community leader, Edna Spencer, Previous Director of Diversity & Affirmative Action, Gordon Hargrove, previous Friendly House Executive Director, and Dorothy Hargrove, previous School Committee Member sought to initiate this city’s youth event in celebration of the legacy and commitment of Dr. King Jr. to improving the lives of young people through education.
The theme for January 2024’s Youth Breakfast is ‘Beyond the Dream: The Struggle for Equity Continues.’
As we continue to embody Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s courage and message to call our democracy into providing access to human rights as an essential part of our civil rights, many of our communities are still fighting for labor rights, affordable housing, access to education, and inclusion and visibility of our most vulnerable communities.
We will celebrate our 30th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Breakfast on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 9AM. If canceled, the snow date is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 9a.m. The event will be held at the Multipurpose Gym in the Wellness Center at Worcester State University.
The program includes performances, noted distinctions nand awards to our community and youth, university scholarships, and essay/poetry contest.
