A Welcome from the Director of Student Involvement
As we head into the new academic year, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all returning students as well as new students to WSU. The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Development is so excited to return to some sense of normalcy this year with more students on campus and additional programs and activities for all to get involved in.
As we reflect on the challenging days of the last academic year, OSILD is so proud of all of the student leaders and members of student organizations that continued to provide virtual and limited in person programs to the campus community. These students persevered through lots of extra details in planning events and still provided quality programming for everyone on and off campus last year.
What some members of the campus community may not realize is that many student organizations suffered last year with recruitment and retention, and some did not even return. This year, we hope to see student organizations flourish and expand their membership with students who are excited to return to campus life. Student leaders are more motivated than ever to recruit and build up their organizations to provide all students with programming and leadership opportunities that enhance their campus experience. Take a chance and join a student organization to meet new people, expand your leadership skills, and have some fun!
Our most important event of the year for recruitment is our annual Club Kick Off, which will be held on Wednesday, September 8th from 11am to 2pm out of the Student Center. This event features tables from all student organizations and gives students the opportunity to explore the many options of involvement that we do have with these groups. This year, we will also be encouraging students to start up their own groups if they have a specific interest not represented in our offerings. The process is easy to start an organization and we are happy to walk anyone through the steps!
Please check out our list of student organizations on our website. Also, for a complete list of our leadership offerings, please continue to visit our leadership site. For the most up to date information on events, keep an eye on your email for weekly notifications and follow us on Instagram @wsu_osild. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email us at studentinvolvment@worcester.edu and we would be happy to talk with you about all of the opportunities offered through our office.
Best of luck to all students this year and we look forward to meeting you all soon!
