Field Work Safety

Be prepared for your field work.
Field work is an integral part of teaching & research experiences at Worcester State University. It consists of activities conducted for the purpose of study, research, or teaching that are undertaken by faculty, staff, students, and authorized volunteers at a location outside the geographical boundaries of the campus. The work presents unique risks that are not typically encountered in the laboratory such as remote locations far from immediate medical care and being exposed to adverse physical conditions. To adequately prepare for field research, a field worker should understand what the specific field research project entails and what safety concerns may arise.
Field Work Safety Manual
The Environmental Field Safety manual is intended to assist in the planning and preparations for health and safety issues that might be encountered in the field. It provides guidelines and resources to lead safe, successful field courses and research trips.
Note: the Field Work Safety Manual will be available to download here.
