In the Provost’s Office at Worcester State University, we set the high standards that have earned us national recognition for academic excellence.
Creating learning environments in which innovation and intellectual inquiry can flourish, we work closely with faculty, students and staff to continue Worcester State’s academic tradition.
Our office ensures the quality and integrity of student learning by nurturing faculty scholarship and student research, supporting professional development for faculty and staff, and providing oversight of Worcester State’s curriculum. Whether it’s at our annual Celebration of Scholarship and Creativity or through Worcester State’s study away and internship opportunities, our work is guided by the expectation that we prepare students to be engaged citizens who are responsive to the evolving needs of a complex global community.
With our comprehensive academic support system, we place a high priority on guiding all students through successful completion of their Worcester State academic program. Our Academic Success Center has services designed to help students thrive academically, including peer tutoring and some advising—all intended to keep students on track through degree completion.
One of our highest priorities is the recruitment and retention of talented and diverse faculty who embrace research and creativity, inspire transformational change in students, and integrate classroom learning with experiential learning that takes place outside the classroom. This is why the review of faculty for promotion and tenure is an integral part of our work.
