I am a developmental psychologist who is interested in gender and identity development among girls and women. My most recent work has taken up topics including mothers’ parenting beliefs and wellness, the sexualization of women and girls in U.S. media, and critical approaches to pedagogy.

The mental, emotional, social and physical changes of contemporary adolescence are examined with emphasis on family, peer and school influences.

This course examines the development of human thinking and knowing from Piagetian, information processing and sociocultural perspectives, with an emphasis on infancy and childhood.
