Project Planning Guidelines

Purpose:

To establish minimum expectations for Information Technologies' project planning

Statement:

All Information Technologies projects that fall outside of daily routine systems, data, and user support must be fully documented in a current or new Information Technologies SharePoint project management site.

Description:

While some projects necessarily cross multiple group assignments, all Information Technologies projects that fall outside of routine daily support must be designated with a single owner.  This owner will function as the overall project manager and is responsible for compiling the project's documentation, establishing implementation guidelines, and functioning as a liaison for IT within the context of the project.

Additional Information:

All Information Technologies' projects must contain the following information and materials:

  • All draft documentation
  • URLs for reference and research as associated with the project
  • Backdown calendar that details major project milestones
  • Archive of all relevant email and communications associated with the project
  • Listing of financial, material, and labor resources required
  • Listing of all final deliverables
  • Detailed relevant policies
  • Detailed relevant procedures
