Where We Are

Honors students have access to study room in the Learning Resource Center (LRC 216) with a OneCard key-entry system. The study lounge is furnished with a comfortable sofa, a conference table, blackboard, 2 computers, Wi-Fi and outlets for laptops. It serves as a useful spot for collaborating on group projects, Honors Student Committee meetings, or just for quiet studying.

The Honors Office is next door, in LRC-218, with posted office hours - feel free to drop in!

What We Do

We plan a busy calendar of events for Honors students: bookmark or subscribe to our blog for updated news and events of the Program, at wsuhonors.wordpress.com.

The fall semester kicks off with a special lunch for new Honors students during First Year Orientation. Returning and new students then meet for a fall semester pizza party, usually held in the Wasylean or Dowden Hall Common Room.

Each year, the Honors Program sponsors an Honors Program Lecture. The University President typically hosts the honors students for two events, one in the fall and one in the spring: a dinner, followed by the group attending a campus or local theatrical production. In the Spring semester, 40-50 members of the Honors program travel overnight to New York City for a cultural visit and a group tour to a major New York attraction. Past visits have included Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Lower East Side Tenement Museum, New York City narrated boat cruise, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Museum of Natural History. Other events include workshops on academic and professional development skills, movie or game nights, and hosted study breaks.

In addition, the Honors Program co-sponsors some of the campus events and speakers, and attendance at those events also counts for Honors event credit.

Honors students take part in a monthly Honors Student Committee meeting, where they organize their own activities and consult on all matters related to the Honors program. The Honors Student Committee is mentored by our graduate student assistant.
