Administrators, librarians and classified staff who are unable to report for work are required to "call-in" one (1) hour prior to their scheduled shift. To report your absence, call your department directly and email email@example.com with a copy to your supervisor. Supervisors are expected to report and/or confirm these absences/changes to timesheets upon receipt of the email. Unreported absences may be considered unauthorized absences without pay.
Faculty members are required to report all absences to their department head who is responsible for posting all class cancellations.
Part-time employees who are unable to report for work are expected to contact their immediate supervisor or department head to report their absence.
INCLEMENT WEATHER/EMERGENCY CLOSINGS
In the event of an emergency or inclement weather on a normally scheduled class and work day, it may be decided to close the University or to have a delayed start. Announcements regarding closings or delays will be made via: radio stations, television stations, the University's homepage, and all WSU email addresses. In addition emergency closing information may be obtained by calling Worcester State University at 508-929-8000 and following the prompts.
Whenever possible, a delayed opening will state a specific time that the University will open. However, some media outlets will only accept a time delay for broadcasting. When that is the case, the normal opening time for the University is considered to be 8:00 a.m. So, a delayed opening of 2 hours would mean that all employees would report to work at 10:00 a.m. with no staggered start times.
