The Department of Visual and Performing Arts invites students, faculty, staff and the greater community to participate in a day of Art in recognition of the International Day of Peace.
The International Day of Peace was ratified by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2002 as a day for people and organizations around the world to perform acts of peace. "By creating the International Day of Peace, the UN devoted itself to worldwide peace and encouraged all of mankind to work in cooperation for this goal."
Faculty and students from the Department of Visual and Performing Arts want to bring awareness of this remarkable day to the College community as a whole with a day on which art is used to help us think about the question: What if there could be World Peace for just one day?
This first annual International Day of Peace event at Worcester State College will give people a chance to participate in art, writing, readings, and music all in recognition of the ideal of peace. Those wishing to participate can come to the gallery from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, September 19.
