Getting Started

User Accounts...New employee information is entered into our Colleague database by the Human Resources department.  New student information is entered into our Colleague database by the Registrar’s department.

Within 24 hours, this information will generate a user account that will be needed to access all Worcester State University's systems including Community System/Blackboard, WSU GMail, WebAdvisor, file storage and our campus computer wired/wireless network.

After you obtains your username and password, future copies can be obtained by selecting the Check/Reset Your WSU Password Login Info on the UTS website or contacting the University Technology Services Helpdesk (508.929.8856 or HelpDesk Web Support Submission Form).  We can not provide passwords over email or phone.

Worcester State University's Community System... This new information system will enable users to access many campus resources, such as e-mail, Web Advisor, and the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS), by logging into a single interface.

The Community System can be accessed at http://community.worcester.edu

Blackboard...is Worcester State College’s online learning management system.  Blackboard course shells are created for each course taught on campus and can be accessed after logging into the Worcester State Community System (see URL address above).  Links to course shells appear under the My Courses module on either the Facstaff or Student Central screens of the Community System.

WSU GMail email... is the University's email and information management system accessed using the internet and is accessible from Community System. All faculty, staff, and students will use this to obtain their Worcester State e-mail from any computer that has access to the Internet.  This works best using Google Chrome however any browser can be used. Handheld smartphones can be synchronized using the instructions under 'Mail Help' available under settings once logged into your WSU email. 

WebAdvisor... is an application that allows users to look up course offerings, check grades and register for courses online.  Note: Online registration occurs during specified time periods.  Faculty can use WebAdvisor to obtain class schedules, rosters and information about their official advisees.  Faculty also can enter midterm and final grades via the Web.  WebAdvisor can be accessed from Community System.

Network Data Storage... is provided to students, faculty, and staff members.  Faculty and staff can store up to 500 mb of data on their network Z:/ drive.  Students are provided with 40 mb of network data storage on their nas1 network drive when they are logged into the WSU Domain available when on the WSU campus network. Storage is available in your WSU Gmail account and accessible by clicking DOCUMENTS - this resource is available on or off campus and is recommended.
