LEDs Installed in Campus Parking Garage

In the summer of 2012 Worcester State University replaced over 200 lights in the parking garage with new energy efficient light-emitting diodes, better known as LED lights. The university implemented this project to conserve energy, save money, and contribute to campus greening.

Funds from National Grid and ARRA supported the project. Worcester State University expects to save 30-50% in electricity costs due to the switch, allowing the university to recoup its portion of the investment in two to three years.

LEDs are a more efficient and cost effective alternative to incandescent light bulbs because they use less energy, last longer, and are more compact.
