Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)

About SoTL: A good introduction to SoTL can be found the Vanderbilt University Center for Teaching site.  Aditionally, a tutorial is available from the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL). Another great resource is Dee Fink's annotated bibliography of Transformative Teaching Practices.

Organizations: Many discipline specific organizations have committees or programs focused on SoTL, however the ISSOTL specifically brings together interested faculty from all disciplines.

Journals: Many academic journals address the scholarship of teaching and learning; click here for a list to get you started, or click here for a more comprehensive list of Higher Education Journals. A good place to start might be this list of articles published by researchers at the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative at the University of British Columbia

Conferences: The Center often passes along information about local conferences that might be of interest. In addition, here's a detailed calendar of nationwide teaching conferences (hat tip to Kennesaw State University's CETL for the lists of journals and conferences).
